History of Fukuoka Bio Valley Project
■2001
September:
Fukuoka Prefectural Bio Industry Center Promotion Conference established.
Fukuoka Bio Valley Project started. (Kurume Research Park Co., Ltd. was in charge of the secretariat.)
September:
Programs to develop bio-ventures started with grant for R&D support from Fukuoka Prefecture and Kurume City.
■2003
August:
The project selected for the MEXT City Area Program (General Type) with the project expense approx. 100 million yen x 3 years. R&D started through Kurume University School of Medicine.
■2004
April:
Fukuoka Bio Incubation Center (F-BIC) opened as a facility for R&D supports.
■2005
February:
Chuncheon Bioindustry Foundation in Korea and Kurume Research Park Co., Ltd. singed an MOU.
September:
The 5th Anniversary forum of Fukuoka Prefectural Bio Industry Center Promotion Conference held in Fukuoka City.
■2006
March:
The MEXT City Area Program (General Type) completed.
April:
The project selected for the MEXT City Area Program (Development Type) with the project expense approx. 200 million yen x 3 years. A constructive R&D stated based on the cancer treatment by Kurume University School of Medicine.
■2007
February:
The commendation of Chikugin (Chikuho Bank) bio-venture award started.
April:
Fukuoka Bio Factory (F-BF) opened as a facility to support product manufacturing.
May:
The delegation sent to the first Asia Bio Business Partnering held in Chuncheon, Korea.
September:
Lugu Biological Technology Industry Co., Ltd in Chenyang of China and Kurume Research Park Co., Ltd. singed an MOU.
November:
The delegation sent to the 2nd Asia Bio Business Partnering held in Bangkok, Thailand.
■2008
May:
CRNF (Clinical Search Network Fukuoka) established in Kyushu University Graduate School of Medical Sciences.
August:
GNI Co., Ltd. founded out from Fukuoka Bio Valley Project and listed on the Mothers Broad of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
October:
The 3rd Asia Bio Business Partnering held in Kurume (Participants; Korea, China, Thailand and Malaysia)
■2009
March:
the MEXT City Area Program (Development Type) completed.
September:
The project selected for the MEXT Intelligent Cluster Construction Program (Global Base Development Type) with the project expense approx.300 million yen x 5 years. R&D started on 3 strategies such as development of cancer peptide vaccines, conducted by Kurume University.
September:
Queensland Clinical Search Network in Queensland of Australia and Kurume Research Park Co., Ltd. singed an MOU.
September:
The delegation sent to the 4th Asia Bio Business Partnering held in Chenyand, China.
■2010
February:
The delegation sent to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney of Australia.
April:
The project changed from Fukuoka Prefectural Bio Venture Development Program to Fukuoka Prefectural New Product/Technology Creation R&D Support Project.
April:
Kurume Bio College established inside Kurume Research Park and the courses on various subjects started.
June: J and Smith Co., Ltd, which was placed in F-BF, established their own factory in Kurume/Hirokawa new industrial complex. (The first company graduated from the project.)
September:
The delegation sent to the 5th Asia Bio Business Partnering held in Chuncheon, Korea.
November:
The delegation sent to the TRX2010 held in Brisbane, Australia.
■2011
September:
The delegation sent to the 6th Asia Bio Business Partnering held in Chenyand, China.
October:
To support development of business to Korea, the delegation sent to Bio Business Mission held in Jeonju of North Jeolla Province, Korea.
■2012
August:
Fukuoka Prefectural program on Product Development Project Workshop set to support marketable products such as foods and cosmetics to enhance companies’ sales and expand employment.
October:
The 7th Asia Bio Business Partnering held in Kurume. (Participants; Korea, China, Thailand and Australia)
■2013
July:
Attended the 8th Asia Business Partnering held in Bangkok, Thailand.
October:
First presentation to the exhibition of Hi/S-tec Japan 2013 held in Tokyo Big Sight
■2014
March:
The MEXT Regional Innovation Strategy Support Program (Global Type) completed.
July:
The consultation counters for Foods with Function Claims established.
■2015
June:
For development support of Foods with Function Claims, a Connoisseur Survey started.
■2016
November:
Fukuoka Prefecture and Kurume City selected to be provided with Regional Revitalization Promotive Grant (3-year’s horizontal deployment type), and the projects determined to be conducted through Fukuoka Prefectural Bio Industry Center Promotion Conference.
■2017
May:
The Regional Revitalization Promotive Grant expanded from 3-year’s horizontal deployment type to 5-year’s pioneering type until 2020.
May:
The cooperative R&D center for regional revitalization placed at the R&D building in Kurume Research Center.
